is an American white rapper who has been writing and performing original hip hop rap songs ever since he was a young kid in New Jersey. Urbalist, aka Jesse Hershkowitz, is also a cancer survivor. While being treated in the hospital in 2006, this white rapper wrote Cancerous Flow: Lyrical Journal, a therapeutic album that closely chronicles his fight against cancer with inspirational hip hop songs. With his powerful lyrics and tight rhymes, this white rapper takes you through his journey by way of positive hip hop from diagnosis to cancer patient to survivor. Throughout the album, Urbalist expresses with passion and rawness his fear, despair, and determination to beat the awful disease through hip hop rap songs.
In May 2010, Urbalist signed an exclusive recording deal with Seany Records. Soon after, he entered the studio alongside producers 8th and Vertygo to record Cancerous Flow: Lyrical Journal. The result is a hip hop album that is at times gritty but somehow always manages to shine through in inspirational hip hop songs.
By turning his personal struggle into a positive hip hop resource for others dealing with cancer, Urbalist is helping people cope with their disease as well as putting the issue of cancer in young people under the spotlight. As he builds his name as a skilled white rapper, Urbalist also builds consciousness about the desperate need for research and funding for cancers that affect children, teens, and young adults with his powerful hip hop rap songs. Since completing his last treatment in 2007, Urbalist has become an icon in the young adult cancer community and cancer support groups. He is involved with I’m Too Young For This! Cancer Foundation, and has performed at several of the American Cancer Society Relay for Life events.
Once you hear Urbalist’s positive hip hop, you will understand his force in both the hip hop and young cancer communities and know this is no ordinary white rapper . With his inspirational hip hop songs, Urbalist will make you think and motivate you to fight on, even when it feels impossible.
